International Experience
The International Center for Bioethics and Third-Party Assisted Reproduction has, for seventeen years, been at the forefront of this quickly changing field at where law, medicine, and bioethics intersect. In that time, we have worked closely with clients from all fifty states of the United States as well as Africa (Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, and South Africa); Asia (Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam); Australia; Canada; Europe (Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom); Israel; Mexico; New Zealand; Russia; and South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, and Paraguay).
We work with individuals, couples, egg (ovum) donation and gestational surrogacy agencies, sperm banks, fertility clinics, hospitals, international organizations, national and local governments, lawmakers, and litigators.
For individuals and couples we prepare ovum (egg), sperm, and embryo donation agreements as well as gestational surrogacy agreements. We obtain declarations of parentage for those in surrogacy arrangements and, when necessary, help with co-parent adoptions of children born through surrogacy. For intended parent clients who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, we assist with the legal process of obtaining the citizenship of their parents for children born of surrogacy. We also provide third-party reproduction-related comprehensive risk management services including financial planning and estate planning including preparation of wills, trust documents, and powers of attorney; escrow services; health, life, and travel insurance identification and reviews; background checks; and travel planning with regard to the unique medical and legal demands of third-party reproduction.
For our institutional, governmental, and legislative clients, we provide evaluations of the relevant law in all U.S. jurisdictions and in multiple other countries including those which are popular fertility tourism destinations. We do legal research and prepare positions papers or amicus briefs for practitioners involved in litigation over third party reproductive matters.
